So true Greg. People complain about judges but often don't take the time to find out where they stand before they vote for or against them. I did some election work for an O.C. Superior Court Judge that wrote the book on our countries failed drug war. Judge James P. Gray. He ran against B1 Bob and Loretta Sanchez some years ago.
ReplyDeleteHe would talk about people that he had to lock away for a 2nd or 3rd drug possession and the fallout that came from that. He said people that had good jobs, families, mortgages, cars and pay taxes suddenly become someone we are paying 40-thousand dollars to house in prison. On top of that they lose their job and stop paying taxes and their mortgage. The car gets repossessed and the family is now on the public dole for welfare. The U.S. has more of its population locked up than any other country in world history. A large portion of those in prison are there for drug offences. We need to reevaluate this so called drug war and put things into proper perspective. We simply can’t afford to continue the way we are.
