Funny you should mention FUHS. I stopped to take a few pictures and got sidetracked when I saw the McDonalds that the Fullerton Redevelopment Agency wants taxpayers to spend $6,000,000 to move about 200 feet to the corner of Pomona and Chapman as part of the Fox Block project.
I also want to take some pictures of the college.
Did you notice the Domino's Truck was up on the sidewalk? It looks like no one bothered to consider deliveries by tractor trailers to the corner pizza parlor. The FPD is working on establishing truck routes through the city. I don’t know how heavy the Domino’s Pizza truck is, but I suppose there may be a pizza shortage in the near future with trucks unable to deliver.
Angeles and Vinci's and Michael Angelo's don't have those big trucks coming to their doors.
7-11's didn't have the huge Merit Trucking 50 footers coming to their parking lots until Walmart owned (at the time) Merit Distributing bought the company that used to service the stores with smaller trucks and replaced them with the big trucks. The drivers were paid $7.50 an hour and drove down from Merced. I was laid off because of this and so were hundreds of other people.
Now the cities have to deal with these huge trucks breaking up their sidewalks and blocking traffic so that the largest corporations can make more money. 7-11 owners also have to deal with cracked and broken parking lots and nowhere for their patrons to park while the delivery takes place.
Thanks to Walmart, I got into radio and out of Orange County. I now spend most of my money in Humboldt County. I'm sure my contributions to the coffers there weren't missed.
You left out my high school.
