In 2006, I served as an Orange County Sheriff’s Department Lieutenant and San Clemente’s Chief of Police. I stood up to run as the anti-corruption candidate against then Sheriff turned convicted felon Mike Carona and earned nearly 100,000 of your votes. Twice I’ve been endorsed for Sheriff by the fine men and women of the department – in 2006, and again in 2008 during the appointment following Carona’s resignation. As your Sheriff, I will protect your constitutional guarantees. I will end early jail releases and the practice of citing and releasing misdemeanor arrestees. Instead, my policy will be: “pay your bail or stay in jail.” Our county’s two most successful sheriffs, James Musick and Brad Gates, had one thing in common – they came up through the ranks. Like them, I’ve worked my way through the sheriff’s department. I am the only candidate to patrol our streets, oversee our county jails and serve as a Chief of Police in Orange County. I am the only candidate to own and operate a small business. With over 25 years of combined service in the military and law enforcement, I know how to cut waste without compromising public safety.
