Hunter's Inspiration: Money

This past week I spoke with a Hunter co-worker (yes, a sworn member of the Anaheim PD) who recently asked Craig Hunter why he was running. Hunter is reported to have said, "I can get a second pension." Hunter apparently didn't make any mention of his desire to fix the OC Sheriff's Department, CCWs, jail reform, immigration, or anything else which he claims publicly as the reasons he wants your vote. There were witnesses to the conversation who heard his real inspiration for running: A FAT PENSION at our expense.

Hearing that caused me to wonder if the rank and file who want Hunter to win are motivated by the idea that he will be out of the department thereby creating a vacuum for promotions (or they just don't like him and want him out)? OR they are supporting him because he is their "Chief" and if they don't, he'll remember who they are and how they failed to serve him when he looses?

I don't know what Hunter's inner motivation is; no one really does. But my source is adamant as to what Hunter said to them and the witnesses that were present. Therefore, I am inclined to believe them and the witnesses.

"4M Estimated to Pay Health Care Penalty in 2016" Says CBSNews.com

"The penalties will average a little more than $1,000 apiece in 2016, the Congressional Budget Office said in a report."

So, if you can afford to buy medical insurance you are safe.  But, if you are broke like at least 25% of the unemployed and cannot afford to buy it, the feds will hit you up for more than a thousand bucks!  You might be in prison for failure to pay the fine but at least you'll be able to see a doctor...

Here come the insurance cops to get you!

What we got...

Chasing Stupid People With Good Tax Dollars

The OC Register is reporting that OC DA Tony Rackauckas has asked Secretary of State Debra Bowen to "team" up to investigate the rash of stupid people who signed voter registration documents without reading them. This is a follow-up to the initial report by the OC Register which outlined how ignorant and completely stupid some people can be.

What a waste! It is a shame that a handful of people with ZERO common sense have managed to waste our hard-to-come-by tax dollars simply because they didn't read what they were signing or they are just too stupid to understand what was printed on the voter registration form.

It doesn't matter who gets implicated at this point. If it went all the way to Scott Baugh, OCGOP Chair, I don't think too many people would be surprised. However, I think this was the standard operating procedure for the signature gatherers - Dem or Rep. I'm pretty certain that the investigation would get sufficiently buried if it were discovered that the gatherers or their employers were somehow tied to the Democratic Party. In the end, a few paid signature gatherers will likely go to jail for a few months. Then, you and I will have to pay for this investigation, the criminal's room and board, and their healthcare while in custody.

OC DA Goes After OC Assessor

The OC Register is reporting that OC District Attorney Tony Rackauckas has began looking into allegations that OC Assessor Webster Guillory failed to collect millions of bucks from private companies who use government property. Sounds kind of fishy to me. The last time I checked, I thought property taxes were assessed to the property owner, not the tenant.
In 2007 I had a lengthy conversation with an Assessor’s Office staffer. She said that all parcels belonging to the Feds, State, City, County, or any public agency were exempt from property taxes - period. You see the reason I asked is because of the property that the Anaheim Stadium sits on is partially in the City of Orange. That means the parking contractor, the L.A. Angels of Anaheim (stupid name, Art), and any other vendors renting space there should be paying property taxes. Hmmm...

Tony wants the money and he wants it NOW!

Is it in here?  Nope, but Tony might have found Hide-N-Seek Harry Sidhu...

If Tony is so hell bent on Guillory, why isn't he also looking into hide-n-seek Harry?

Mike Carona Seeks Workers' Comp

As if his years of corruption and cover up weren't bad enough, Carona wants to receive workers' comp for what the OC Register reports as “pain radiating to other body parts.”

Did George Jaramillo nibble too hard on Carona's ear (see picture above) or was he injured while be allegedly groped (also see picture above)? I can only imagine his pain of being a convicted felon and the 9 long years in a federal prison.

The El Dorado Ranch - Is it Public or Private

Here is an update to a story I brought you on April 6, 2010.
Clearly this sign warns potential visitors to the El Dorado Ranch that it is "PRIVATE PROPERTY". However, the sign lies! Or rather the person who placed the sign there is either a liar or is misinformed. The Grant Deed below makes it clear that the property has been granted to a public agency which places the property in the hands of California residents.

So, despite the very official albeit old and faded sign, you and I own the temporary residence of Milton A. Gordon, President of Cal State Fullerton whose salary exceeds $300,000 per year. With all that money he saves living rent free it's no wonder he left the light on for us.

Here is a nice view of what Mr. Gordon enjoys...

I spy a tall tower...
